Mariah Carey Features In A New PSA For The American Heart Association

Remember earlier this month when we learned that Mariah Carey was co-directing a new Jenny Craig commercial? Well, it turns out that it wasn’t a commercial that they were filming … it was a public service announcement for the American Heart Association. As the spokesperson for Jenny Craig weight loss, Mimi thought it was important to put out a PSA that advocates the importance of heart safety. February is here and American Heart Month is already in full swing! Jenny Craig celebrity Brand Ambassador Mariah Carey has not only lost weight on the program, but has improved her heart health since shedding the pounds and is living her best life yet. As a national supporter of the American Heart Association’s My Heart. My Life. healthy living initiative, Jenny is helping to lead the charge to combat the obesity epidemic by working with the AHA to reduce Americans’ risk for cardiovascular disease by 20 percent by 2020. Why? Some scary heart statistics: every 34 seconds someone has a heart attack and 1 in 3 women are at risk for heart disease. Research shows that poor lifestyle is a major contributor. Says Mariah, “the first time I spoke with the executives at Jenny … we really clicked in terms of the fact that they had a vision beyond weight loss. Jenny has a broader vision, particularly with the American Heart Association. There’s something to be said for the fact that they’re thinking globally and starting of thinking here in America where our issues are finally coming to the forefront.” Jenny’s mantra is to eat well, move more, live life. Most people don’t realize that weight impacts their heart health and maintaining a healthy weight can positively impact risk factors. Eating habits, level of activity, blood pressure and cholesterol management, blood sugar levels and current weight all influence risk. To support the AHA’s My Heart. My Life. healthy living initiative, this month Jenny is launching a multi-faceted program called My Heart. My Life. My Jenny, tying in education, community programs and online activations to encourage people to eat better and move!

Mariah appeared on Good Morning America yesterday to talk about this new PSA to promote American Heart Month. As I understand it, Jenny Craig is supporting nearly 350 Heart Walks across the nation in 2012 with the American Heart Association … so hopefully this PSA will inspire people to take heart care seriously and participate. The heart illness statistics are stunning … if it weren’t for PSAs like this, I would have no idea of how serious the problem of heart illness is in the US. Considering that her husband Nick Cannon is suffering from his own bout of illness, I can understand why Mariah Carey would want to be part of this campaign.

Kelly Clarkson Hangs With Beauty & The Beast At Disney World

Singer Kelly Clarkson is currently on tour in the US and along the way, she managed to swing thru Walt Disney World in Florida to participate in the amusement park’s Mardi Gras celebration last weekend. Kelly also made some time to hang out with some of the Disney characters who live at Disney World — including two of my fave characters ever, Belle and Beast from Beauty and the Beast. Singer Kelly Clarkson took some time to visit another attraction as she was in Orlando to perform at Universal Orlando Resort’s annual Mardi Gras celebration Saturday. The former American Idol winner was at Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom the day after she performed for thousands. Clarkson posed with Princess Belle and Beast from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in the Rose Garden.

Aww, what a cute photo. I love Kelly so much … she looks great in this photo. While Disneyland will forever be my fave amusement park ever, I have to say … I’m really itching to get back to Disney World in Florida. I haven’t been there in many, many years so … it’s about time. David’s family has a condo in Florida … maybe I’ll be able to swing a trip down to FL sometime soon to visit Disney World again. Who knows, maybe I’ll get my own photo with Beauty and the Beast :)

Lindsay Lohan Is SERIOUSLY Preparing To Play Elizabeth Taylor In Her Upcoming Biopic TV Movie

Yesterday we learned that Lindsay Lohan successfully won the role of Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming made-for-TV biopic Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story (tho, some are reporting the film is titled Liz & Dick). Today we are hearing from sources close to Lindsay that she is seriously serious about the role. Apparently Lindsay plans to live and breathe Elizabeth Taylor leading up to the start of filming … but will it be enough for her deliver an excellent performance in the film?

Lindsay Lohan ain’t no slacker — TMZ has learned, the actress is studying up hardcore for her new movie role … doing everything she can to accurately portray a young Elizabeth Taylor. In case you haven’t heard — Lindsay just inked a deal with Lifetime to play Liz Taylor in the network’s new made-for-TV biopic called “Liz and Dick.” Production is scheduled to kick off late March, after Lindsay’s probation is terminated. Lindsay is telling friends, she’s taking her new gig extremely seriously — “obsessing over getting the part right” for the film. According to sources, Lindsay is doing nothing but watching old Liz Taylor movies to help her recreate the Hollywood icon’s posture, speech, and every other little detail. We’re told Lindsay has also been watching old Liz interviews online and reading a bunch of Liz biographies. Lifetime is taking a hard stance with Lindsay too — demanding she complete ALL her probation requirements before filming begins … which Lindsay has promised to do.

While I applaud Lindsay‘s attempt at doing Elizabeth Taylor justice, I think it’s gonna take a lot more than just watching movies and interviews to deliver the performance she needs to honor the late Liz Taylor. But, once upon a time, Lindsay was a pretty decent actress … I want to believe that she has it in her to give a great performance. We’ll have to see tho. I’m not holding my breath but would it be great if L. Lo shocked us all with a fantastic performance? HMMM. We shall see, we shall see. What do y’all think? Does Lindsay still have the acting chops to do the life of Elizabeth Taylor justice?
